In the Novgorod region has completed the destruction of pigs on the site of the fattening pig-breeding complex in Volotovsky district — LLC "Novgorod bacon", where at the end of July 2018 has been revealed a hotbed of African swine fever (ASF). As reported today, August 8, head of the veterinary Committee of Novgorod region Lyudmila V. N. Sukachev, the infected animals destroyed on a specially prepared site 1.5 km from the village Volot.

"During the liquidation of the specialists of Rospotrebnadzor for the Novgorod region twice made measurements of atmospheric air. The excess of harmful substances is not fixed. The population of the village Volot and neighboring settlements suffered", — said Lyudmila Sukachev.

Only 37 have been destroyed thousand of animals — all livestock that were on the site of the fattening pig.

In addition, within a radius of 10 km from the property from private households were confiscated 20 pigs. Their owners paid compensation for a total amount of 166 thousand. Studies have shown that pigs from private farms were not infected tests came back negative. Experts believe that the removal of animals started in a timely manner, and infection was avoided.
