Power Novgorod region extended quarantine because of an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in the region until November 22. Professionals need to complete the disinfection in the enterprise "Novgorod bacon", which was recorded with an infection, said Tuesday TASS in the press service of the government of the Novgorod region.

"The quarantine was extended until November 22 and is valid on a previously installed site: Volotovskaya, Soltsy, Staraya Russa and Shimsk district. The area of focus is limited to the size of the buildings of the farm. In this regard, removed four of the five guard quarantine posts", - said the Agency interlocutor. According to the head of the veterinary Committee of Novgorod region Lyudmila Sukaczewii, experts have conducted disinfection in the territory, where it was destroyed the population at 36.6 thousand pigs.

"Now it is necessary to complete the work inside the complex. Activities implemented for primary disinfection of pig premises adjacent to farm areas," Sukacheva said.

The outbreak of ASF was recorded in the territory of one of the largest pork producers in the region - the company "Novgorod bacon" on July 22. Because of the infection in the enterprise destroyed 36,6 thousand animals. In the first threatened zone (10 km from the source) was shot wild boars and pigs withdrawn from households with the subsequent monetary compensation to the owners.

ASF refers to the list of especially dangerous infectious viral diseases of animals, first recorded in 1903 in South Africa. In Russia the virus spreads since 2007, during this time, destroyed hundreds of thousands of pigs.
