The project "Biosphere-fish" using the system of closed water provides for the production of 5 million fingerlings of sterlet in the year for reproduction of fish stocks of the waters of the Volga-Vyatka region, 1 million trout fry for planting material and 50 tons of marketable fish sturgeon a year. Planned total investment amounts to 625 million rubles.

"We are a region with rich water, but, unfortunately, part of the fish is weak.... And that's a good signal to complex for the production of one million fingerlings of sterlet. The project will enable to exclude it from the red book (Tatarstan, ed.). It is clear that starlet is getting smaller, if we are not involved in its breeding," — said at the opening ceremony of the complex Minnikhanov.

"I believe that this is a good beginning, and we need to bring it to logical end", — RT President said. Investment in the first phase of the project amounted to 160 million rubles.

The area of workshop of the first phase – about 1.5 thousand square meters, it comprises four recirculation. The technology involves a full cycle of reproduction, and certify the fallopian stud manufacturers.

Currently, the sterlet is listed in the Red book of Tatarstan. To ensure in 10 years, the catch of sturgeon at a level of about 2% of the total catch, you need to produce annually in the waters of the Republic up to 8 million fry. Complex "Biosphere-fish" when at full capacity will be capable of providing up to 70% of the demand (5 million units) in the fry in the waters of the Republic of Tatarstan.
