The agreement was reached during a meeting of Minister of agriculture of Lithuania Giedrius Surplys and his Polish colleague Krzysztof Yurgel in Brussels on 28 January 2019.

As reported Surplus, Lithuania has received a notice in writing from the chief veterinary doctor of Poland Pavel Nemchuk.

Poland has imposed a ban on the import of pigs and pork from Lithuania in the end of 2018. Lithuania, in turn, said that the decision is unreasonable and warned Poland about the response.
