The meeting participants discussed the current state of Russian-Japanese relations in the sphere of agriculture, the issue of mutual access of agricultural products to the markets of Russia and Japan and cooperation in the joint Russian-Japanese projects in the far East.

The Japanese side spoke about the report on the application of the principle of regionalisation in Russia on avian influenza in the independent Committee of Japan for animal Health, the meeting will be held on may 21 in Tokyo, as well as on the possible terms of consideration of this report. So, for decision-making the Committee is required 1 year, however, the Japanese competent authorities noted that this period may be extended.

In addition, Hiromichi Matsushima announced the intention to complete the necessary procedures for the certification of two Russian enterprises for the production of finished meat products from pork and poultry (LLC "Znamenskiy selection-genetic center" and JSC "Krasnobor") until the end of June this year. Of enterprises inspected by the Bureau of food safety and consumer Affairs of the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and fisheries of Japan at the end of March 2019.

The meeting also discussed the existing problems of supply already certified by the Japanese veterinary service of Russian enterprises. The Japanese side assured that it will work with customs to address the difficulties in the export of domestic products.

The sides noted the positive developments in resolving issues of mutual access of agricultural products to the markets of both countries and the work of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the specified direction.

Following the meeting the co-chairs of the dialogue agreed on the signing of a Memorandum on cooperation in the joint Russian-Japanese projects in the far East of Russia in the framework of the group of twenty Summit to be held in Osaka (Japan) 28-28 June 2019.
