According to the Minister of agriculture Yevhen Leshchenko, at the end of 2019 the index of food production to the level 2018 amounted to 103.1%, beverages — 88,2%; in first quarter 2020 this index is much higher: for food products in comparison with January-March, 2019 the index is made up of 113.2%, in beverages — 100,2%. In March 2020, produced 21% more food than in February and 17% more drinks.

This jump Leshchenko explained the increased demand for certain groups of food.

"The production capacity of many of our enterprises in the food processing industry even now, with the increase of production, is not being fully utilized, — the Minister noted. — This will allow, if necessary, to continue to increase food production".
