Low grain prices, established in the second quarter, increased activity of Asian importers. Usually August and September are quiet months for Australian exporters.

Australia in August 2016, according to port schedules shipments, can supply 1.4 million tons of wheat. It's 30% more than July's exports, the largest monthly exports since December 2015. Traders hope that the high pace of exports will continue in September.

Australia looks forward in the 2016/17 season to export 17.21 million tons of wheat. However, it has to withstand stiff competition from Ukrainian and Russian grain, which, due to the low freight rates have pushed Australia, in particular Indonesia market.

Another problem for exporters emerged on the domestic market. Farmers are holding back the forward sales of wheat in anticipation of price recovery.
