Record harvests and cheap corn will lead to a drop in food prices because their value is more dependent on transport and energy costs than the cost of raw materials, said the Life President of the Russian grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy.

"Grain prices have dropped, we have from 1 July loss for wheat of the third class - 2600 rubles. And in the fourth class more. But this did not lead to falling prices on the counter ready products: the way of the market. There's grain share in the characteristics is too small. There are other components - such as energy, logistics, which are stronger than reflected, - they are not getting cheaper", — said A. Zlochevskiy.

He also stressed that Russia has all chances to become the largest supplier of wheat on the world market, but it is necessary to solve the problem of loss of quality characteristics of the grain during storage.

"We already produce enough to fully supply all the needs of the Russian Federation and become the largest supplier of it of wheat on the world market. There is a problem with the storage. We have to lay down the grain. Just as storage at the moment leads to the fact that we have losses primarily in the quality of stored grain. This problem of loss of quality need to be addressed. And the amount we lose less than in Soviet times", — he said.

Vladimir Putin's congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of worker of agriculture and processing industry reported that, according to expert estimates, in 2016 the grain harvest in the country will amount to about 115 million tons. This figure is the highest in the history of modern Russia and allows to hold leading positions among the exporting countries of this product.
