As specified, GGL made this petition, citing the relevant requirements of the agreement on economic partnership between the two countries in the framework of the Indonesian-Australian partnership in the economic sphere.

Recall that in 2015, Indonesia has imposed restrictions on import of feed grain in the country to support local producers. Prior to the introduction of quotas on imports of these grain Indonesia was able to buy annually on foreign markets to 3 million tonnes of maize and 1.8 mln tonnes of feed wheat. However, this year the country plans to import feed wheat.

At the same time, the estimated GGL, Indonesia needed annually import about 2-3 million tonnes of wheat, due to the growth of the feed industry in the country – an average of 7% (1.1 million tons) per year.
