Omsk oblast intends to 2018 to increase the grain yield from 3.4 to 4 million tonnes, said on Monday TASS on the sidelines of the national forum of agricultural producers acting Governor of the region Alexander Burkov.

"In the Omsk region, 2018 is the year of fertility. Plans to reduce the harvest (due to low grain prices - approx. TASS) no, on the contrary, due to the campaign on fertility, we hope to increase (grain yield) to 4 million tons," said Burkov.

He noted that the regional government is already in talks with the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation on increase of quotas on the export of these agricultural products outside of the Omsk region at preferential rates, and the United grain company by the consolidation of the region specific volume of grain which will be exported through the port in the East of the country. "We are ready to send to the East at least 350 thousand tons. The capacity of the market to the East about 70 million tons of grain, East Asia today is ready to accept Russian grain," said Burkov.

According to the Minister of agriculture and food of the Omsk region Maxim Chegusova, continue the export of Siberian grain to the West with a "grain Express". Omsk oblast is one of the leading agricultural regions of Russia. The area of farmland is more than 3 million hectares, of which about 2.1 million hectares allocated for grain crops. The region is also self-sufficient in milk, meat and eggs and exports the surplus. In 2017 they produced 626,7 thousand tons of milk (4th place in the Siberian Federal district (SFD), 238,8 thousand tons of meat (2 in SFO) and 937 million eggs (5 in the SFO).
