Inspectors in the province of Zhejiang China discovered dangerous levels of lead in cereals for babies, made by the company H.J. Heinz Co.

Department of food safety in Zhejiang province has initiated a special inspection 303 food providers in the region.

The Department for the protection of the rights of consumers demanded that the American company had cooperated with the investigation, provided information about the causes of pollution and paid compensation.

Department of food safety, however, refused to give details on the levels of lead in the product, but promised to provide additional information in the near future.

Standard levels for baby food should be less than 0.2 mg per kg, according to a government report in 2010.

Heinz apologized to consumers and said that its own investigation showed that low-fat soy flakes in one of the parties gruels for infants contained variable levels of lead. The company added that the level of lead was "accidentally" exceeded by the provider.

As preventive measures, the company began a review of four shipments of cereals, which could contain fat-free soybean flakes.

Representatives Heinz said that the company plans to develop a more rigorous system of regulation of suppliers of ingredients, to improve traceability and controls food safety throughout the supply chain.

Crisis recalls the incident of 2013, when Danone and other companies had to withdraw child nutrition in nine Asian countries after what turned out to be "false alarm" regarding the contamination of dairy ingredients supplied by Fonterra.

If Heinz wants to assess the impact of this incident, you can access reports of the French Danone.

Danone has calculated that the product recall cost $476 million loss in sales plus a huge damage to the reputation of the brand.

Danone announced the termination of the contract with Fonterra and was going to sue the new Zealand exporter of dairy products with the aim to collect about $300 million loss. This trial was inevitable, as was the decision Danone to complete a business relationship with Fonterra. The only unanswered question was whether Fonterra to survive. The company conducted negotiations on compensation matters for many months. And the fact that no agreement was not reached, could not serve as a good omen for Fonterra.

A review of the products will also harm the reputation of Heinz in China, and as a consequence, the reputation of all Western companies.

Chinese parents, tired of the constant fears of children Contracting toxins through food and the environment, appealed to the media to Express anger and anxiety.

According to experts, lead exposure is especially dangerous for children, blocking the intellectual and physical development. A significant excess levels of lead can lead to poor concentration, anti-social behavior and even death.
