Start truck and rail traffic on the Crimean bridge will increase the delivery of food and nonfood products, leading to increased competition and lower prices, said the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

During the "Straight line" the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, answering the question of an entrepreneur from Crimea, who drew attention to the problem of high food prices in the country, noted that the prices of goods in the Crimea after the launch of freight traffic on the Crimean bridge on par with the other regions of the Russian Federation.

"One of the reasons for high prices is lack of competition in the market. Government regulation we have. We expect that the opening of freight traffic on the Crimean bridge and then the railway line will allow to increase the delivery of products to the Peninsula to raise the level of competition. I am sure that the prices are stabilized", - said Aksenov on Thursday on his page in Facebook.

Touching raised during a "Straight line" to the question of road construction, the head of the Republic noted that the reserve Fund of the President allocated 4, 5 billion rubles for the construction, reconstruction and major repairs of roads of the Crimea, from the Republican budget provides for 2.9 billion rubles for this year.

"This is clearly not enough for our Republic. In addition, the special climatic conditions of the Crimea - the number of periods of freezing and thawing have a negative effect on exploitation and preservation of the roadway and require expensive technological solutions," - said Aksenov.

He also noted that the Council of Ministers will raise the issue of funding and construction of roads at the Federal level. "I regularly report to Vladimir Putin about the situation in the region", - said the head of the Crimea.

On the bridge in the Crimea

The need for construction of Crimean bridge emerged after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia in 2014. The bridge will provide uninterrupted transport and rail links the Peninsula to other regions of Russia.

Road part of the bridge was planned to open in December of this year, but was completed six months ahead of the deadline. The opening ceremony was held on may 15 with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and in the early morning of may 16 on the bridge started traffic. At the first stage, the bridge is open only for cars and buses, truck traffic is prohibited until the fall. The construction of the railway part of the bridge continues its opening is planned for 2019.
